The Funniest Man in America is Coming to Stardome May 9-10 and May 16-17!

For over two decades, the unforgettable caricature of veteran comedian James Gregory has stood grinning: his shirt un-tucked, his arms outstretched, and a carefree welcome to a down-home, hilarious comedy experience. It’s storytelling at its best. The trademark caricature is the essence of James Gregory’s comedy: rib-tickling reflections on life from the front porch.

Gregory is constantly touring. He’s on the road about three days a week, forty six weeks a year. He continues to entertain sold-out crowds in theaters and comedy clubs and remains in demand for corporate events. James has been the featured entertainer for over 200 corporations, including the Coca Cola Company, Kimberly Clark Corporation, Hewlett Packard and Kroger. James has also been the featured speaker for events sponsored by various civic and church groups. James is heard weekly on syndicated radio shows such as Rick and Bubba, John Boy and Billy and Bob and Tom. Combined, these shows are broadcast to people in over 220 cities nationwide. As a result, he now has a grass-roots following that numbers in the millions.

Gregory was born in a rural area about twenty five miles east of Atlanta, GA. He got his first job at the age of twelve at a small country grocery store. By the time he was fifteen, he was working thirty-seven hours a week, as well as going to school. As an adult, James has worked for the U.S. Postal Service, the Department of Defense, and spent almost ten years as a salesman before discovering the wonderful world of stand-up comedy. James does not “tip-toe” through life as if he’s walking on broken glass or egg shells. That style is evident on stage as well. He is not politically correct. Much of his humor is centered on brilliant observations of crazy relatives and people obsessed with the slightest change in weather conditions – now referred to as global warming. He delights in poking fun at modern sensitive parents and out-of-control environmentalists. Gregory has been quoted as saying, “If you want me to be concerned about endangered species, you need to convince me that we’re about out of chickens.”

The James Gregory show turns the clock back to a time when life was simpler; to a better time, before the death of common sense; a time when people sat on the front porch and actually talked to each other without a cell phone in their ear. Gregory’s success, like his comedy, is the direct result of the values he grew up with. And now, twenty something years later, it is this unique brand of humor that packs the crowds into his sold-out shows. The absence of vulgarity sets James apart and his stories are carefully crafted art. “I have lived long enough to know people, know life”, Gregory reflects. “My comedy is based on my life experiences. It’s real, it’s funny and the audience loves it. That’s why I’m still in business.”

James Gregory will be at the Stardome Comedy Club on May 9th-10th and the following weekend May 16th-17th.

SINBAD! Long-time friend of the StarDome will be here May 2-4!

David Adkins, who is more commonly known by his stage name Sinbad, is an American Comedian
and actor. After service in the military, he started his comedy career by appearing on Star Search, where he won his round against fellow comedian Dennis Miller. He soon was cast on The Redd Foxx Show, a short-lived sitcom, playing Byron Lightfoot. Sinbad was known for keeping his act clean and was devoid of derogatory statements or foul language, which he felt was not necessary to sell a crowd and continue to make them laugh.

In 1987, Sinbad landed a role in A Different World, a spin-off of The Cosby Show built around Lisa Bonet's character Denise Huxtable. Previously, Sinbad appeared in two different one-off roles on The Cosby Show, as the principal at Huxtable's college and as "Davis Sarrette". While Bonet only stayed with the program for a season, Sinbad stayed with the cast from 1988 until 1991 as "Coach Walter Oakes". By the early 1990s, his popularity had grown enough for Fox to green-light The Sinbad Show, which premiered September 16, 1993. In the self-titled series, Sinbad played 35-year-old David Bryan, a bachelor who decides to become a foster parent to two children after becoming emotionally attached to them. The series, which co-starred a young Salma Hayek, received praise from critics for its unique and realistic[citation needed] portrayal of African American life.[8] Around that time, Sinbad had recently received joint custody of his two kids, Royce,[9] then age 4 and Paige, age 7, and told the press that these experiences informed him of single parenting.

In 1990, Sinbad did his first stand-up comedy special for HBO called Sinbad: Brain Damaged. The special was recorded at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1993, Sinbad did his next stand-up special in New York City's Paramount Theater at Madison Square Garden called Sinbad - Afros and Bellbottoms for which he won a 1995 Image Award. The show was such a success that he was brought back in 1996 for Sinbad - Son of a Preacher Man and again in 1998 for Sinbad - Nothin' but the Funk.
More recently in 2013, Sinbad served in a guest role on the adult animated series American Dad voicing an animated version of himself in the episode Lost in Space. The same year, he voiced Roper in the animated film Planes. Sinbad will be performing a special comedy event at the Stardome May 2 through the 4.

One of the Funniest Comedians, Arnez J, is Headed to Stardome April 25-27!

One of the funniest comics currently commanding the stage today, Arnez J. continues to evolve his unique style of comedic skills to new generations. Rapidly becoming one of the most talked about comedians, Arnez J's charisma and physical agility are unforgettable. With the physicality of Jim Carrey, his brand of comedy has dubbed him "the black Jerry Lewis."

On his own at age 14, Arnez lied about his age to get a job at a gas station to work his way through school. Arnez wanted to be a professional baseball player. A Philadelphia Phillies Farm League pursued him, but that fell through. It was later while working as a flight attendant that Arnez discovered his comedic talent. He realized that he had the ability to keep the passengers and crew laughing and upon encouragement from friends, he made his first attempt at stand-up comedy. After that first night on stage, he knew what he wanted to do. He left his job with the airlines and made the decision to devote all of his time to a career in comedy.
The Harlem Globetrotters recruited Arnez after their scouts saw his very physical comedy routine and his local celebrity basketball game. However, Arnez suffered a minor knee injury that forced him to put his basketball career on hold. An Atlanta native, Arnez began working the comedy circuit in Georgia and quickly became one of "Hotlanta's" funniest newcomers. A finalist in the 1992 "Bay Area Black Comedy Competition," Arnez was immediately noticed by the entertainment industry and was asked to make his first television appearance on Showtime's "Comedy Club Network." Numerous television appearances soon followed including recent appearances on "The Keenan Ivory Wayans Show," "Louie Anderson's Comedy Showcase," Comedy Central's "Make Me Laugh," NBC's "Friday Night Videos," Russell Simmons' "Def Comedy Jam," his own BET "Comic View Grandstand Hour Special" and many others.

In keeping with his plan, Arnez keeps up a dizzying pace performing for sold out crowds in clubs, colleges and concert halls across the country. And most recently, he has accomplished something no other comic yet has done. Arnez has been asked by The Artist Formerly Known as Prince to perform as his opening act.

Arnez J will be here April 25 through 27 at the Stardome.
